Learn to Fly and Earn Your Private Pilot Licence

The Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is the first full flying licence that allows a pilot to operate an aircraft as Pilot-in-Command for personal and recreational flying. At Ekas Flight Academy, the PPL program builds a strong foundation in aviation knowledge, flight operations, aircraft systems, navigation, communication, decision-making, and flight safety.

Training ModeGround School + Flight Training
Eligibility10+2 recommended. Students planning CPL should complete Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
Medical RequirementDGCA Class II Medical
Minimum Age17 years
OutcomeDGCA-compliant Private Pilot Licence

What is a Private Pilot Licence?

A PPL allows an individual to act as Pilot-in-Command of an aircraft for personal and recreational flying. A PPL holder can fly aircraft independently, carry passengers, conduct cross-country flights, and build flight experience. PPL holders cannot receive compensation for flying.

The PPL is also the foundation of professional pilot training. Every Commercial Pilot starts by developing the aircraft handling, flight planning, airspace operation, navigation, communication, and safety skills taught during PPL training.

Why Earn a Private Pilot Licence?

  • Learn real flying skills: Operate aircraft safely and confidently.
  • Build aviation knowledge: Understand aircraft systems and flight operations.
  • Fly independently: Experience the responsibility of being Pilot-in-Command.
  • Prepare for CPL: PPL is a major step toward becoming an airline pilot.
  • Personal achievement: Join a focused community of licensed pilots.
  • Global aviation opportunities: Build experience recognized across aviation pathways.

Eligibility and Medical Requirements

  • Minimum age: 17 years.
  • Educational qualification: 10+2 recommended.
  • Basic English communication skills.
  • DGCA Class II Medical Certificate required.

The medical evaluation includes vision standards, hearing standards, cardiovascular assessment, general physical examination, and medical history review.

DGCA Requirements

Students must hold SPL, complete ground training, complete the required flight hours, pass DGCA examinations, pass the skill test, and meet medical standards.

Minimum Flight Experience40 hours
Typical Training45-60 hours

Your Journey to Becoming a Licensed Pilot
